About Our Organization

Our story began in response to a tragic shooting that left the world missing a beautiful young man with a giant heart and a passion for helping underprivileged children.  To honor his memory, his family asked his pastor, Daren McGrew, how they could make a difference in a community beset by senseless violence.

After speaking with local urban pastors and leaders, the idea was born to provide spiritual, social, and academic mentoring to children from the inner city.

For over 20 years, Faith, Hope & Love has provided mentoring services to underprivileged youth in Charlotte.  The children we reach receive little support at home.  They suffer from a lack or resources such as food, furniture and transportation.  It is little wonder that they fall behind in school. We have seen countless changed lives, dark futures become bright, and sad faces turn to smiles. Our program is successful because Christ is the cornerstone of all we do.

Early in our history, our model was evaluated in a study by Harvard University. The results were consistent with what we already knew to be true: FHL makes a profound difference in the lives of our children academically, socially and spiritually.

We have remained faithful to that unique model ever since, matching invested and professional mentors in one-on-one relationships with children.  Our mentors are doctors, lawyers, professors, grad students, bankers, and businessmen, but what they all have in common is a passion for helping kids.

We are an independent, 501(c)3 organization. We do not receive public funding. Please consider supporting Faith Hope & Love so that we can continue to help those most in need: our children.
