About Our Organization
Our story began in response to a tragic shooting that left the world missing a beautiful young man with a giant heart and a passion for helping under-resourced children. Amidst the grief the young man's family sought the guidance of his pastor, Daren McGrew, in hopes of continuing his legacy.
As Pastor McGrew spoke with local urban pastors and leaders, the idea was born to provide mentoring to children and their families. That legacy and mission has lived on for over twenty years now at Faith, Hope & Love Mentoring Program.
The children at the heart of the program receive little support at home, and their families often lack resources such as food, furniture and transportation. It is little wonder that upon entry, many are behind in school. FHL staff engage closely with parents and guardians while volunteer mentors work alongside their children. With Christ as the cornerstone, the lives of everyone involved are changed.
Early in our history, Harvard University evaluated our model of whole-family-mentoring to determine the validity of the approach. The results of the study revealed what we already knew to be true: whole-family-mentoring does in fact bolster upward mobility academically, spiritually, and socially. We have remained faithful to that unique model ever since.
We are an independent, 501(c)3 organization. We do not receive public funding. Please consider supporting Faith, Hope & Love so that we can continue to serve families for years to come.
